An Aries Story: Mariel Noir in See The Sign Tapestry
For the launch of our latest product — See The Sign Tapestry, we asked a select few to assist with the release by sharing their stories through the lens of their zodiac sign. We hope you find the human in fellow strangers, see your reflection in those who walk the Earth beside us, and move with compassion during these times. Immense gratitude to those who opened their heart and participated with us. First up, meet Mariel Noir from Ecovocateur.
WE ASKED: WHO ARE YOU?
Mariel: I’m Mariel, I’m originally from Norway but I currently live in Ojai CA. I’m a film director, a visual artist and sustainability advocate. I’m the creator and founder of Ecovocateur Magazine. I also have a film production company ForLove productions with my twin sister.
WE ASKED: WHAT'S YOUR LIFE MISSION/PASSION/INSPIRATION?
Mariel: My life mission is to change the world through conscious media, art, and sustainability.
My passion is creating thought-provoking content, writing, directing and producing editorials and films that start conversations about the socio-political state of the planet.
My calling is to use my creative powers to protect the environment by creating art that speaks to its endangerment. Whether in front or behind the camera I love to tell a story, evoke emotion, empower, push boundaries and shine light where it needs it the most. Through Ecovocateur I want to rewrite the narrative of eco fashion, demonstrate just how powerful and sexy sustainability is and provide a solution to our collective climate crisis.
A lot of my inspiration comes from sensuality, nature, music, travel and life in general. I find inspiration everywhere. I have always had a natural need to express and create. I simply love it. Art is powerful, and I truly believe that through art we can better the planet.
WE ASKED: WHAT'S BEEN A CHALLENGE IN YOUR LIFE? HOW DID YOU DEAL WITH IT OR HOW ARE YOU DEALING WITH IT?
Mariel: The biggest challenge in my life was losing my mom. She passed away on my birthday when I turned 11. It changed my life forever. My first time experiencing deep loss. Even though it’s a long time ago since that happened it still something I’m dealing with everyday, I still miss her all the time.
How I’m dealing with it, is by honoring her. All the love I have for her with no where to go I put into to my work and other people. My mom was an incredibly kind and beautifully loving woman and I know she would want nothing more than for me to be happy and spread kindness and love wherever I go, so that’s what I try to do.
WE ASKED: WHAT CAN WE DO TO SUPPORT? HOW CAN WE SUPPORT YOUR LIFE MISSION/PASSION?
Mariel: Thank you! Anyone who supports my work / mission I’m eternally grateful for because it means everything. You can follow my work on my channels: https://www.instagram.com/marielnoir/ https://www.instagram.com/ecovocateur/ https://www.instagram.com/forloveproductions/
I am also currently looking for an angel investor / seed funding for Ecovocateur , for the full vision to be realized, for those interested I’d love to share my proposal. I’m always looking to partner with eco friendly & sustainable brands.
As well as collaborating with musicians I absolutely love directing/ producing music videos. Anyone interested in creating or in need of video / photo content. Please reach out. I love connecting and creating, I’d love to hear from you.
WE ASKED: HOW DO YOU RELATE TO YOUR ZODIAC SIGN?
Mariel: I am actually a Capricorn but my rising sign is Aries and my Mom was an Aries. I’m very passionate, determined , ambitious and bold. I always dive headfirst into anything. I’m an eternal optimist. Even though I am an earth sign (Capricorn) down to earth I have a burning fire inside of me and I get that from my Aries rising.
ARIES ARTWORK INTERPRETATION:
"Aries is the first sign of the astrological calendar. It is also the first sign of Spring season. The sprout or small leaf art design represents the first sign that the seeds we’ve been planting are starting to grow." - Leigh Cariaga, Nightswim Astrological Design Artist
