A Gemini Story: Sandy K. Schmidt in See The Sign Tapestry

For the launch of our latest product — See The Sign Tapestry, we asked a select few to assist with the release by sharing their stories through the lens of their zodiac sign. We hope you find the human in fellow strangers, see your reflection in those who walk the Earth beside us, and move with compassion during these times. Immense gratitude to those who opened their heart and participated with us. Next up, meet: Sandy K. Schmidt. 

WE ASKED: TELL US, WHO ARE YOU?

Sandy: Thank you! My name is Sandy. I am German, but living in Costa Rica since the beginning of my adulthood. I am basically "Alematica" now more than anything else, German/Costa Rican. At the current, the three main titles you could give me are Conservationist/Activist, Digital Marketer & Campaigner, Yogi.

WE ASKED: SANDY, WHAT’S YOUR LIFE MISSION/PASSION/INSPIRATION?

Sandy: I believe that the only constant in life is change. Purpose & your main focus project may change over time and that is totally ok. However, what really sets my soul on fire in no matter what channel of my expression are three things: 

1. Empower! No matter if as a digital marketer I can see my business clients grow in their projects that align with my core values. As a yoga teacher I can guide my students into an asana they did not believe they were able to so easily accomplish. As a founder of my non-profit organization I can give young people a safe platform to find their voice and stand strong for what they like to see change in this world - My passion is to empower others!

2. Create meaningful connections! I'll give you just one example. Just last week a friend who is an arquitect with a focus on sustainable building reached out to thank me for having created the connection with another of my dear friends who was seeking just the right person to built her yoga school haven in Costa Rica. You may call it networking, but not necessarily for me, for others. It fills me with joy to see people I love and admire come together, create together and grow together!

3. Re-connect you with nature! I believe that the damage we do to our beautiful and only planet comes from the disconnection to nature. No matter if as yogi, digital marketer, conservationist or in my social media channels, my intent is to make you fall back in love with nature. To remind you that we are nature and therefore, we need to do everything in our power to protect it. 

WE ASKED: WHAT’S BEEN A CHALLENGE IN YOUR LIFE? HOW DID YOU DEAL WITH IT OR HOW ARE YOU DEALING WITH IT?

Sandy: I needed a moment to get to the core of this, I must admit. But,deep down it is an untirable desire to ever expand, transform and freedom. You may say, oh that is not such a challenge, but I never express through heavy language and always like to transmit my messages in an uplifting way when I write. 

Imagine only that I was born into East-Germany. The wall came down when I was 5 years old. It is incredible to remind myself that my mother and my father never had the opportunity to travel the way I did when they were younger. 

So what I mean is that there is an unstillable longing in me to move, fly, leave the old behind and that at times can be tiring on all levels. It comes with constantly pushing you farther, going beyond your comfort zone, little rest and constant self-reflection and adjustments. It means that whatever could possibly feel like it's cutting my wings, holding me back or down must be changed: societal and cultural patterns that don't serve me, childhood trauma, relationships, my own inner limiting beliefs.

I think we can sum it up, my biggest challenge is that my essence  longs to live beyond comfort and to find balance and patterns to accommodate this desire in a way that it is healthy on all levels — physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually!

WE ASKED: WHAT CAN WE DO TO SUPPORT? HOW CAN WE SUPPORT YOUR LIFE MISSION/PASSION?

Sandy: I believe that if you have a roof over your head, food to eat and generally live a pleasant life — give back! The planet sustains you with every breath you take, with every drop of water you drink. Get involved. It doesn't matter if it is a social cause near you, an environmental cause or a catastrophe that happened far away from you that moves you — get involved! Humanity and Planet Earth need you and truly even the smallest act of kindness can create vast impact. 

And of course, I always love to connect as digital marker, environmentalist, yogi or simply if you travel to Costa Rica. WE ASKED: HOW DO YOU RELATE TO YOUR ZODIAC SIGN?

Sandy: Gemini is an air sign — Transparency, Knowledge, Clarity, Movement, Change are all features that I have engraved in me. That make me who I am. I truly feel I am a super "typical" Gemini. We are connectors, communicators, fast thinkers, idea creators, spiritual, ever-changing, ever-evolving — I am all of that!
